Pro Bono Opportunities |
|
|
| |
Attorneys provide invaluable pro bono services to our clients every day, from firms handling major litigation to individual attorneys staffing legal clinics. You can help low income families stay in their homes by participating in our Eastside Housing Clinic for direct client interaction or through representation in eviction defense cases. Pro bono opportunities, including representation at hearings and trials, are also available in guardianship, restraining order and family law cases. LACLJ staff are available for training and support of all pro bono Attorneys. Contact Steve Arredondo at 323-980-3500 x 23 or steve@laclj.org. |

LACLJ welcomes students to participate in weekly Eastside Housing Rights Clinic and to volunteer with LACLJ’s Family Law Unit, including assignments with the Teen Attorney and the Default Assistance Project. Law students work under the direct supervision of staff attorneys on intake as well as on assigned projects, and have an opportunity to:
- analyze and assess individual clients’ needs
- participate in direct communication with clients
- review each case with a staff attorney to determine what assistance is needed
- prepare paperwork for a variety of legal matters
- attend and participate in legal and community trainings
- assist in the development of resource materials for clients
- conduct legal research and prepare pleadings and memoranda
LACLJ also hosts summer law clerks for 10 week internships, and welcomes Certified Law Students.
