COVID-19 Response Fund

Apr 20, 2020 | Updates

As survivors are left in dangerous situations during the current crisis, LACLJ has created a COVID-19 Response Fund to continue to protect the safety and rights of survivors.

While abusers take advantage of the pandemic to exert their power and control, survivors are facing new challenges:

  • sheltering place with their abuser,
  • experiencing overloaded healthcare systems, and
  • limited financial resources due to loss of work.

Many survivors can’t even access unemployment relief due to immigration status. As communities shelter in place, domestic violence reports are rising (see recent article by the New York Times – link opens in new tab).

We ask that you join LACLJ and make a contribution to our COVID-19 Response Fund. Your support will help keep our virtual doors open and provide survivors with access to the legal remedies that can save their lives.

You can make an impact by helping to ensure that LACLJ is continuing to represent survivors in court, process immigration relief applications, provide crisis management support, and connect clients to much needed community resources. Click here for stories on how the COVID-19 Response Fund is helping the community.
